Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salimhadzic confirms that talks have begun with representatives of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano
The French defender is one of the most sought after centre-backs in the world with teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Chelsea interested in him. The muscular defender is one of the best at what he does and is very good to play with too. RB Leipzig have not entertained any requests of a winter transfer for him and as a result Liverpool have not tried to sign him this time as both teams play each other in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
Release clause of £40 million activates in the summer and that is most likely when clubs will try to land him
RB Leipzig players have a cheap release clause as their transfer policy more often sees them signing players on the cheap and then selling them for big money. Players like Erling Haaland, Takumi Minamino and Dominik Szoboszlai are all RB Salzburg players and have been signed for considerable money while Timo Werner and Sebastian Haller have gone for big money transfers too when their release clauses weren’t available. Liverpool signed Takumi Minamino for a paltry sum of £7.25 million as they activated his release clause.
Similarly, highly rated Dayot Upamecano’s release clause gets activated this summer and clubs will more than likely begin negotiating with RB Leipzig for his sign. Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salimhadzic confirmed that he has come in contact with Upamecano’s representatives and are trying for a move. He will most likely replace David Alaba, who could be leaving the club this summer after his contract comes to an end.
It remains to be seen which club will sign Dayot Upamecano as the summer transfer window is still a few months away and clubs are still trying to get players.
