Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich started the 2024-25 pre-season with a bang, under their newly appointed manager Vincent Kompany. The Bavarian team secured an impressive 14-1 victory against FC Rottach-Egern, ushering in a new era.
Rottach-Egern successfully held off Bayern for the first 23 minutes until Adin Licina broke the deadlock. The Bavarian giants quickly followed with three goals in the next three minutes, bringing the score to 4-0. Mathys Tel scored a hat-trick as Bayern reached a final score of 14. Among the ten different goalscorers were Noussair Mazraoui, Raphael Guerreiro, Sacha Boey, and five other youth players. Tobias Schlichtner of Rottach-Egern scored a consolation goal.
This resounding win helped Vincent Kompany begin his new Bayern era on a positive note, garnering reactions from club fans worldwide. The former Belgian captain was appointed as the new manager by the German club after they parted ways with Thomas Tuchel in May. Moreover, the ex-Burnley manager expressed his satisfaction with the match result while emphasizing the importance of continued preparation and player evaluation.

Fans and social media users hail new Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany after massive pre-season win
Bayern Munich appointed ex-Manchester City star Vincent Kompany as the club’s new manager, despite facing criticism following a disastrous season with EPL side Burnley, which ended in relegation. However, the club’s recent 14-1 pre-season victory has earned him praise.
Fans took to social media to share their reactions, with some declaring that a new ‘Kompany Era’ had begun. Other fans highlighted Bayern’s dominance, noting that they scored five goals in just four minutes. A few fans praised Kompany’s management, despite the absence of many senior players from the squad for the pre-season.
Some fans humorously mistook Bayern forward Arijon Ibrahimovic for the former Swedish legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, other fans criticized the new manager, claiming that his strategies take a lot of time for players to understand. Here are some of the reactions:
