SmackDown kicked off in 2025 with a new 3-hour format and a brand new face atop the women’s division, Tiffany Stratton. WWE wasted no time in finding a challenger for her, as Bayley has already been declared the #1 contender for the WWE Women’s Championship.

After becoming the number one contender, Bayley gave an interview with Byron Saxton. He wanted to know how she felt about her chances. The Role Model said that her entire career had been full of taking advantage of opportunities like this. Furthermore, she felt confident as she had wrestled Stratton the entire year. However, the Buff Barbie had never managed to beat her.

The latest episode of SmackDown featured a confrontation between Stratton and Nia Jax. The Queen of the Ring went off on her protege for betraying her. Before these two could finish their conversation, Bayley stepped into the fray. She said that the Money in the Bank winner had clearly outsmarted the former Women’s Champion. Bianca Belair and Naomi also made their entrances shortly after. The former TNA Knockouts champion claimed that she almost had the championship won last week. However, the 25-year-old spoilt her plans.

I’ve known people like Tiffany Stratton my whole career and I’ve wrestled Tiffany Stratton all year. And you know one thing? She’s never beaten me.

All these superstars started brawling, and Nick Aldis declared an impromptu fatal-4-way match, the winner of which would be crowned the #1 contender for the Women’s Championship. Bayley came out on top after hitting a Roseplant on Naomi and will be looking to become a 5x Women’s Champion.

Bayley’s WWE Women’s Championship match against Tiffany Stratton will take place on next week’s episode of SmackDown

It appears that fans will not have to wait too long to see these two superstars face off in the ring. WWE announced after SmackDown that Bayley vs Tiffany Stratton will take place next Friday. As the former champion mentioned, these two superstars have taken each other on plenty of times. One of these bouts even involved the WWE Women’s Championship in a triple-threat match at Backlash France.

The way that Stratton won her championship on last week’s episode of SmackDown set up a lot of contenders for her to face during her title reign. Firstly, Nia Jax will surely be looking for revenge after being betrayed. Naomi is also pretty upset as the former Ms. Money in the Bank ruined her championship opportunity.

During the moments preceding her cash-in, she had also attacked Candice LeRae and Bianca Belair, who had just hit a KOD on the former champion. Stratton took advantage of the opportunity, hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, and successfully cashed in to become the new WWE Women’s Champion.
