Bayley will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Tiffany Stratton and Naomi at Backlash. This will be the first PLE defense for the Women’s Champion after winning the title at WrestleMania XL against Iyo Sky.
Bayley recently posted a promotional photo of the three women in the WWE Women’s Championship match at Backlash. Along with this photo, The Role Model quoted another previous tweet of hers made nearly a year ago. The 34-year-old requested the WWE for a PLE or TV episode in Paris, France.
This request by the Women’s Champion was made in response to a tweet by producer Shane Helms, FKA Hurricane. Helms mentioned that Paris was in contention for the best wrestling crowd ever. The 49-year-old made this statement after the WWE held a live show in the City of Love.
Although Backlash will be hosted in Lyon and not Paris, the 2024 Royal Rumble winner did get close enough to her year-long wish of a PLE being hosted in France. Additionally, she will be involved in a high-profile match at the event, defending her title.
On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Nia Jax interrupted the #1 contender’s match between Naomi and Stratton. The blue brand had picked the Irresistible Force in the WWE Draft. As a result, she wanted to make a statement by going after the main-event players on the SmackDown women’s division. Thereafter, Nick Aldis announced a triple threat match at Backlash for the Women’s Championship.
Bayley talks about Jade Cargill’s future in WWE
In an interview with Wrestle Binge, Bayley talked about Jade Cargill and her becoming a part of the women’s division. The 34-year-old said that Cargill was a highly unique performer, and she was excited to have her. Further, she claimed that The Storm had a great look, and it would be interesting to see what she could bring to the table.
More importantly, Bayley wants the former AEW star to show consistency and work hard. Additionally, she expressed her desire to see the 31-year-old make a connection with the fans, as she herself took it very personally. The Women’s Champion said that she has already had a great start to her WWE career, teaming up with Naomi and Bianca Belair at WrestleMania.
Jade Cargill helped the 2024 Royal Rumble winner in her fight against Damage CTRL at WrestleMania XL. Further, Big Jade will be continuing that feud at Backlash. The Storm will be going after The Kabuki Warriors’ Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside her partner Belair.
