Differently-abled cricketers set to represent BCCI soon – Reports
BCCI 1
Differently-abled cricketers are all set to get official recognition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) very soon, according to reports from The Times of India. Due to the same, they would be allowed to use the logo of the board on their jerseys when they go abroad for tournaments as well as in India. This positive development has come up after the organizations running differently-abled cricket in India form the Differently-abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI).
The Council elected Mahantesh GK as the President due to his contribution towards differently-abled cricket and especially for the visually challenged. The idea of forming the council as well as gaining official recognition was proposed to the BCCI and its secretary Jay Shah in a meeting with shareholders in differently-abled cricket. In the same, Shah is said to have expressed his desire in implementing the idea.
DCCI thank BCCI secretary Jay Shah
After the positive development, the DCCI thanked Jay Shah and President Mahantesh GK said, “We are very thankful to Shah for continuous support and encouragement to differently-abled cricket players in India. With the BCCI’s support, it can boost cricket movement for the differently-abled Cricket Players in the country.”
DCCI’s general secretary Ravi Chauhan also extended his thanks and said, “Shah has always patiently heard our problems and has been very supportive in providing support for differently-abled cricketers. It will be a dream to have an Indian team for the physically challenged, blind, deaf and wheel chair cricketers.”
The aforesaid developments could go a long way in providing a boost on all accounts to differently-abled cricket in India.
