The Chicago Bears training camp is starting tomorrow, July 22 and all eyes are on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. After the 2024 No. 1 pick couldn’t perform to his standards in the offseason program, he is all set to let his feet adjust to the football ground and prepare himself for the coming week 1.

In between the practices, the former USC standout has been stealing some moments to enjoy a delicious sandwich– one of the things Williams can’t live without. One of those moments was caught on camera by his teammate DeMarcus Walker, who went into the locker room to witness the quarterback enjoying a sandwich, which he referred to as “Delicioso” by offering the sandwich to Walker.

The No. 1 draft pick has quickly formed a close bond with the Bears players and is reportedly “very excited” about the team’s offense for the coming season. Given that the Bears have added integral offense weapons for Williams’ support, as they aim to end the playoff drought in 2024.

Caleb Williams signed the highest-paid rookie contract

When the Bears drafted Williams– the best of his 2024 batch, they put great faith in him and also had high expectations from him next year. Their faith is well reflected in the lucrative deal they offered to him worth $39.5 million for four years, with a signing bonus of $25.5 million.

With this deal, Williams earned the highest-paid rookie compensatory package since 2011, when the salary structure was revamped, as NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Although Williams’ football career started in Oklahoma, he built his name after transferring to USC– where he won the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award in his sophomore year.

Along with Williams, wide receiver Rome Odunze drafted by the Bears also signed his contract with the franchise for four years worth $22.7 million, fully guaranteed with a signing bonus of $13.3 million.
