Bears’ Matt Eberflus betting favorite to win ‘Coach of the Year’ despite having an abysmal 10-24 record in last 2 years as head coach
The upcoming 2024-25 NFL season might be a make-or-break season for Matt Eberflus.

There might be a glitch in the system or the arrival of No. 1 draft pick Caleb Williams has raised the standards of the Chicago Bears quite high. Not only they are expected to retain the Contender status after another losing season in 2023 but also their head coach is the favorite to win the ‘Coach of the Year’ honor.
Coming from a 7-10 season, the Bears have worked a lot on the team this offseason with some really brilliant additions. But they truly hit the jackpot in obtaining the No. 1 draft pick from the Carolina Panthers, which led them to draft Williams and improve the team’s standing in the league– to the extent that they are among the teams that fans have been betting on with great expectations.
As per DraftKings.com, the Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is the betting favorite in the race for NFL’s Coach of the Year honor. He is succeeding his competitors at a remarkable +900 odd.
The odds have come to be a bit shocking since the Eberflus has a bizarre record with the Bears in his two seasons with them. In 2021, the team went 3-14 followed by 7-10 last year. It seems likely that Eberflus is not entirely responsible, as his odds have improved after drafting Williams as the No. 1 pick.
Matt Eberflus’ Bears future hangs in balance ahead of 2024 season
Heading into the 2024 regular season, which is two months ago, head coach Eberflus has a ticking clock over his head. In the last two seasons under him, the Bears had held a losing record at the very bottom of the NFC North division.
The Bears did not improve under him, therefore if he failed to successfully coach the team to the postseason, he might not be there on the roster next year. But if he did, no win could stop him from receiving the honor.
Eberflus is competing against Jets coach Robert Saleh and Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh standing at +1100 followed by Matt LaFleur at +1200, Raheem Morris, and Demeco Ryans at +1300.
