The Paris Olympics will be Simone Biles‘ attempt at redemption after she withdrew from the team competition rounds due to mental health issues. With her leading the USA Gymnastics team, it is expected that they will sweep the gold medals. That said, it seems the Chicago Bears do not want Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens to take any chances and support her all the way until the finals.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was speaking with reporters after their practice sessions on Monday. There he was asked why the franchise decided to grant him permission to go to Paris.

We respect the Olympics. That’s a big deal. He’s supporting the one he loves the most. I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that, we welcome that and it’s going to be awesome. Go USA.

This showed that the Chicago Bears wanted their new safety to support his wife on the biggest stage of all. They want Jonathan Owens to be able to provide all the support his wife will probably need as she attempts to win more gold medals along with her team.

Those wins will help her move up the charts as one of the most decorated Olympic gymnasts ever. Simone Biles could have already been on that revered list and could have even become the greatest ever. That is until she had to withdraw due to mounting pressure.

Owens will be there to support Biles in every way possible, all of that to ensure that she continues her historic run and ends up being a part of the Olympics legacy. Something that only a select few have been able to achieve in history.

Jonathan Owens will miss Hall of Fame game

Jonathan Owens is set to leave for Paris for the Olympics. He will miss four training camp practices from July 29th to August 3rd. Other than much-needed practices, he will also miss the Hall of Fame against the Houston Texans scheduled on August 1st.

However, that may not be all that he will miss. Two more gymnastics finals will take place on August 4th and 5th. Simone Biles will attempt all her competitions. Therefore, if she reaches the finals in either of them, it is highly likely that Jonathan Owens will be granted additional time off. With the way she has been performing at Olympic trials and practice sessions, Owens will likely miss 2 more practices.

For a player about to start life with a new set of teammates, every practice is crucial. The Chicago Bears are looking to play elite football on their way to the playoffs, at the least. But they also know that a wife competing for gold at the Olympics is far more important right now.
