‘Been working with Max Mirnyi on the serve and volley’, says Kei Nishikori
World No.39, Kei Nishikori has returned to the ATP tour of a long injury lay-off. The Japanese is currently playing the Barcelona Open, where he is a two-time winner.
The former US-Open finalist, in a recent interview with the ATP tour answered some fan questions on his game, his inspiration and quarantine past-time.
Revealing his quarantine past-time, Nishikori said, “I watch a lot of movies, especially documentaries. Been watching a bit of creepy ones too.”

Upon being quizzed on his inspiration, he said, “Roger has been the guy. He is fun to watch. He is a great player, I don’t get excited by watching any other player, but Roger. Just the way he makes some shots is amazing.”
On his new partnership with former pro, Max Mirnyi, Nishikori explained his new moves and goals. “Been working a lot on the serving and volleys. He has been telling me to stay aggressive and come in to the net. I am not trying to come in all the time, but I am getting used to it and feeling good.”
Nishikori opens his Barcelona campaign against Guido Pella.
