Belal Muhammad was looking to utilize his spare time at the fight Island by watching “The Walking Dead” but he got a far better deal when he was asked to fight the No.3 ranked guy in the division Leon Edwards.

Muhammad just defeated Dhiego Lima in a fight at UFC 258, and his conditioning and training camp everything went perfect and it was reflected in the fight.

When he was asked by his manager if he wants a fight against Edwards he said, “Heck yeah – give me a reason to do something,” and according to him he was ready for such opportunity. He said, “I knew that during these times, anything could happen. So I was like, stay ready so when you do get that call, you’ll be able to say, yeah. I hoped that it would happen like this. Nowadays, these high-ranked guys, none of these guys want to take fights.”

“It wasn’t like he was forced to say yeah, but he said no to all these other guys thinking that they weren’t worth it. But now, you’re going to fight the hardest guy on the roster, and it’s for sure not worth it for you.

“It’s like these guys forget why we’re in this game,” Belal Muhammad on fighters turning down fights

Belal acuused top ranked fighters of being a businessman more than a fighter, he commented, “This is the only way it would have happened. The higher guys, they all know how good I am, so they can use that excuse that the number’s not too high against the name.”

“It’s like these guys forget why we’re in this game. We’re in it to fight, we’re not in it to sit back and play the business role. This is the fight. What’s in your contract. Are you here to fight?”
