The main event of Bellator 277 is here. Patricio Pitbull seeks revenge as he takes on rival AJ McKee for the second time in his career to reclaim his featherweight belt.

Bellator 277 takes place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The main card was aired on Showtime. The event is packed with exciting fights from top to bottom but the main event is why the entire MMA world will be tuning into it. Bellator MMA legend Patricio Freire, the former two-division champ will look to win his belt back from AJ.

Heading into this fight AJ came in with a record of 27-0. McKee will be defending his title for the first time and Pitbull was going to try his best to percent that from happening. It is worth mentioning that Patricio has never lost a rematch in his professional career.

Patricio evened things tonight at Bellator 277 as he won his belt back, handing AJ his first-ever career loss. Patricio went into the fight slamming huge leg kicks as McKee tried to find his range for the perfect shot. McKee managed to land some head kicks but not as effective as the Brazilian.

In round 2, McKee couldn’t find any rhythm as Patricio was very efficient with his counters. The highlight of the fight came in the third round when the challenger tagged the champ with a nice overhand right but couldn’t follow as McKee went immediately for the takedown. However, Pitbull managed to get into a position for his signature guillotine choke and almost got the job done.

Despite not being able to find his rhythm for the first three rounds, McKee managed to switch things around in round 4 as he outlanded Patricio with his strikes. Round 4 was the best one for the champ in the entire fight. Round 5 looked in favor of Patricio Freire as the champ looked to outstrike McKee. AJ also managed to secure a takedown.

The fight went to the judges and Patrico got his hand raised. AJ was in complete shock that Patricio was favored in the fight. This reaction could also be mostly because AJ’s corner told the champ he was up four rounds, heading into round five.
