A.J. McKee, Patricio Pitbull, featherweight title rematch in works for April 2022

A.J. McKee, the current Bellator featherweight champion and the 2021 featherweight Grand Prix winner, will make his first title defence in a rematch against preceding champion Patricio Pitbull. McKee first fought Pitbull at Bellator 263 back in July 2021 when Pitbull was the champion. McKee, son of MMA legend Antonio McKee, is an undefeated prospect and the hottest fighter in the Bellator MMA roster. McKee is also the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in Bellator rankings.

Pitbull, on the other hand, is the former 2-division champion of Bellator MMA at lightweight and featherweight. Pitbull has now vacated his lightweight title. His brother Patricky Pitbull is the current lightweight champion. Pitbull has won over the likes of Emmanuel Sanchez (twice), Michael Chandler, Daniel Straus, Pedro Carvalho and many more.

McKee is the kind of fighter that is fantasized against the UFC fighters, especially the UFC Featherweight champion of the world Alexander Volkanovski. He has finished 13 of his 18 fights and is mostly known for his first-round finish of Pitbull and vicious stoppages of Darrion Caldwell, Derek Campos and Georgi Kharakhanyan. McKee has been competing in Bellator MMA since his first fight back in 2015, so he has 18 victories with the promotion.

Pitbull on the other hand has 20 wins which are the most in the promotion’s history. With an overall record of 32-5, Pitbull has 23 finishes, 11 by knockouts and 12 by submissions. Pitbull has been fighting in Bellator MMA since 2010.
