“He’s a tough manager”- Scott Coker still in talks with Kayla Harrison’s manager for getting the judoka signed with Bellator MMA
Scott Coker-Kayla Harrison
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker is doing everything he can do in his power to get 2-time Olympic champion, Kayla Harrison, under the roster of Bellator MMA as soon as possible, but it’s not as easy as it seems to be. Harrison last fought for Professional Fighters’ League (PFL) in which she won the women’s lightweight tournament back to back.
However, after the 2021 Grand Prix, Harrison decided for testing herself into the free agency and the rush of various MMA Promotions might tell you that she’s one of the hottest free agents of combat sports history. Harrison is 12-0 undefeated as a pro-MMA fighter with 10 finishes. Before that, Harrison has 2-Olympic gold medals to her credits in the sport of Judo, from the 2012 London and 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics.
Ali Abdelaziz, Kayla Harrison’s manager is still in talks with Bellator MMA
At Bellator 274 post-fight press conference, Scott Coker talked about the main event of the show possibly becoming a fight of the year and the co-main heading itself to become the knockout of the year by the end of 2022. It was in the midst of all the future updates that Coker also talked about Harrison’s deal.
“Look, I know Ali [Harrison’s manager] very well, and he’s a tough manager he’s a hard negotiator, right,“ says Coker “I think that you know she’s the biggest star over there so of course he’s gonna bring it to him, I’m sure they’re gonna have challenges you know in that relationship we’re trying a deal done. We’re still in dialogue but we will see what happens,“ says Coker.
What do you make of Coker’s update so far on the Kayla Harrison deal? Do you think Harrison will make it to Bellator or will she go somewhere else? So far, it seems that PFL is yet again in the frontline for getting Harrison but the thing is she has competed there before. Do you think at this point maybe Harrison should go for exposure into competency over the checks?
