Just like Khabib rates Gegard, the Bellator champion also regards the Dagestani as one of the best to ever do it. The fighter has publicly showered praise for the splendid career of Nurmagomedov and was also hoping that the fighter returns to fighting when he announced retirement in 2020.

“He is definitely one of the greatest. It is difficult to measure, do you measure it with losses or championship fights or scandals? But I would say he is in the top three, for sure. You can put him at 1 or 2 but he is definitely in there,” said Gegard in an interview with The Schmo back in 2020.
