Fans trolling her majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Bellator 285 just took place in Dublin, Ireland inside the 3Arena . MMA is extremely famous in Ireland and the crowd showed incredible passion. During the fights, the Irish fans were wild and cheered for all the fighters.
One of the most notable moments from the night is when the crowd went on a chant to diss Queen Elizabeth’s recent demise. “Lizzy’s in a box” was soaring throughout the arena as Lizzy was the nickname of the late Queen of England.
It’s been around a week since her majesty was announced dead and since then the song ‘Lizzy’s in a box’ has become popular. The song just simply mocks and celebrates the fact that the Queen is in a casket.
It’s not the first time something like this has happened. A week ago, during the Scottish Premiership football match between Dundee United and the Rangers at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland, the crowd did the same. A part of the Dundee United football fans began loudly chanting, “Lizzie’s in a box” and the clips went viral on the internet.
Most of this animosity is the result of the tension between England, Ireland and Scotland in the last century. However, making fun of someone’s death was taken as extremely disrespectful by many.
Bellator 285 results: former UFC stars Yoel Romero and Benson Henderson took the spot light
Irish fans proved that they are crazy and absolutely love their fighters. The Bellator 285 was a huge success and was loved by the fight fans. In the main event bout, UFC legend Benson Henderson fought Peter Queally and won the fight via unanimous decision.
Another former UFC superstar, Yoel Romero had a light heavyweight fight against Melvin Manhoef. The ‘Soldier of God‘ won that fight via a devastating knockout in the co-main event of Bellator 285.

A women’s featherweight bout in the main card featured Leah McCourt vs Dayana Silva where the former defeated Silva via a unanimous decision. In other fights, Pedro Carvalho beat Mads Burnell via decision, Ciaran Clarke won against Rafael Hudson and Karl Moore defeated Karl Albrektsson via submission.
Bellator is certainly giving interesting fights every week and is starting to compete with UFC for the top spot. Although Bellator had a long gap to cover, the promotion is taking the right decision and providing the fight Fans with some amazing MMA action.
