Belal Muhammad finally entered the win column at RAF 11 after defeating UFC veteran Ben Askren in a co-main event matchup. Askren competed in his first professional setting since 2021 after spending years away from competition. The wrestling veteran faced major health issues in recent years, with ‘Funky’ getting visibly emotional as Muhammad highlighted the respect he has for his opponent.
Muhammad and Askren delivered a competitive wrestling battle at RAF 11, with both veterans relying heavily on their grappling backgrounds throughout the contest. Askren controlled key moments early, using his elite wrestling experience to create problems for Muhammad. However, ‘Bully B’ adjusted as the match progressed, applying more pressure and doing enough to secure the 6-3 decision victory.
After the match, Askren appeared visibly emotional as he placed his gear down in the middle of the mat, marking a significant moment in his career. He then addressed the fans with an emotional speech following his final wrestling appearance. Muhammad wasted no time praising Askren’s determination to overcome his near-death experience and make a successful return to the wrestling mat after years away from competition.

Askren’s return to competition followed a serious health battle after he suffered severe pneumonia in 2025. The illness caused respiratory failure and required a double lung transplant. After recovering from the life-threatening condition, Askren returned to the wrestling mat at RAF 11 after years away from competition.
Following his double lung transplant, Askren faced another setback when he was readmitted to the hospital due to concerns over a possible infection. The former UFC fighter revealed doctors were monitoring issues related to his chest tube and placed him on antibiotics during his recovery process.
Despite being bedridden and visibly weak during his recovery, ‘Funky’ continued addressing fans and the combat sports community from the hospital. Askren regularly provided updates on his progress and inspired fans and fighters with his motivation to return to training. His determination became a key part of his comeback journey.
Muhammad entered the matchup looking to regain momentum after recent setbacks in competition. He suffered a loss in his most recent UFC fight against Gabriel Bonfim. ‘Remember The Name’ also lost his RAF debut against David Carr at RAF 04 before securing his first promotional victory at RAF 11.
Ben Askren closed out his wrestling career at RAF 11 after building a remarkable legacy in the sport. He was a two-time NCAA Division I champion, four-time All-American, and 2008 Olympic competitor. RAF 11 marked the endpoint of his journey, with Belal Muhammad’s speech serving as a fitting close to his storied career.
