In 19 years, Mike Tomlin has faced some criticism over the way he has run the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, he is facing the most criticism from fans and analysts after their embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bills.

From ‘Fire Tomlin’ chants to loud boos, the scenes at Acrisure Stadium were not what the team had hoped to hear 13 weeks into the 2025-26 season.

Those chants, however, were fitting as the home team performed poorly on both sides, leaving them with their worst loss of the season. Now, as they continue on their journey with their playoff hopes up in the air, many wonder if Tomlin should leave.

Maybe it’s a clean house time, and I like Coach Tomlin. I have a lot of respect for Coach Tomlin. Maybe it’s best for him, too. Maybe a fresh start for him is what’s best.

Ben Roethlisberger said on Footbahlin

The 43-year-old spent 15 of his 18 seasons in the NFL under Mike Tomlin and reiterated his respect for his former head coach. He also reminded viewers that he was not speaking ill of his mentor.

Instead, he was referring to how one needs a change in scenery to reset their mind and how they approach their job. Ben Roethlisberger believes his former coach probably knows that too, but may not want to openly admit it.

The two-time Super Bowl-winning QB then referenced how certain coaches, after spending a long time in one place, need a change to really bring back the passion that was what got them the job initially.

Mike Tomlin has honest assessment of fans’ demands to fire him

Once news spread that the Pittsburgh Steelers were back at practice, reporters knew they had to ask Mike Tomlin about fans and analysts wanting him to leave.

In general, I agree with them… Football is our game, we are in the sports entertainment business. If you root for the Steelers, entertaining them is winning. So when you are not winning, it’s not entertaining… I respect it, I share frustrations.

Mike Tomlin replied

The 53-year-old coach knows not winning has led to this, as their 5 losses in 7 games are not befitting a franchise that has been winning every year he has been there.

Moreover, he also knows that the manner in which they lost to the Buffalo Bills has led to the frustration boiling over, but reiterated that he knows what winning is like, and was inclined to suggest that he was going to give fans the entertainment they seek.

Aaron Rodgers doing his bit to get offense back on track

Mike Tomlin is not the only one facing the heat, as some decided to attack Aaron Rodgers for throwing his receivers under the bus after that disappointing Week 13 loss.

Aaron Rodgers had his receivers, tight ends and RBs to his house tonight to watch film and go over plays. Ben Skowronek brought a decorated cake and the players sang Happy Birthday to Rodgers, who turned 42 on Tuesday.

It happened to be the 4-time league MVP’s 42nd birthday, and the best way to celebrate was with the very players he depends on ensuring the Steelers put up points on the board.

If this happens to be true, it will be a major departure from the times when he would criticize his receivers, but then also eventually force them to find a different job.

It seems the California native has changed his ways and ensured he has a chemistry building session with his unit. If anything, this could be a step in the right direction for the team.
