Has the Pittsburgh Steelers truly found their next generational quarterback? Well, if they listen to legend Ben Roethlisberger then it is indeed true.

After advising the Steelers to continue with Justin Fields even if veteran Russell Wilson recovers, the two-time Super Bowl champion once again is advocating for his name after the team’s impressive 3-0 start of the season. He believes if there’s anyone who has the ability to become the franchise quarterback like he was over fifteen years ago, then it’s Fields.

During the latest episode of Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, the iconic NFL star highlighted Fields’ performance this season as he posted 518 yards after week 3’s impressive 20-10 victory. While it’s confirmed that he will start in the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts, Roethlisberger believes that the Steelers’ QB is the future of Pittsburgh.

If this is the guy we’re gonna get, this might be the guy for the future. I’m just being honest. I’m saying he might be the guy. He’s showing it. He’s doing it with his legs. He’s doing it with his arm. He took chances. He protected the ball. What I saw was him taking more chances throwing the ball. He showed a lot.

Complementing the quarterback’s resilience, Roethlisberger argued that it’s not easy winning by ten points against a defense as strong as the Chargers, which is among the top five defenses in the league. Since he is the last Pittsburgh quarterback to win a Super Bowl, the team perhaps would take his advice under consideration.

How Justin Fields is redefining his career in Pittsburgh

Despite the success, the former Chicago Bears quarterback is poised and demure while appearing at the press conferences. He is playing pretty safe compared to others and since there have been no turnovers or any mistakes suggesting him to leave the starting quarterback throne.

I feel like I’m just very calm out there. Cool, calm, and collected on the field, and really just that sense of peace out there on the field and not really rushing things internally in my brain.

Previously while praising Fields, Roethlisberger highlighted that even though the signal-caller doesn’t have very impressive stats, the team should continue with him because of his efficiency. He is moving forward with proper strategy, avoiding taking risks where he shouldn’t and focusing on leading his team to victory.
