Arsenal man Ben White has been a stranger to the National team ever since Gareth Southgate took charge of The Three Lions. Despite having four caps to his name, the Arsenal man withdrew from the 2022 World Cup squad due to personal reasons and the UEFA Euro 2024 squad after asking Southgate to not include him in his plans.
As Southgate departed the National team and interim manager Lee Carsley took charge, fans were hopeful that the Arsenal defender would finally play for England again. However, as revealed by Carsley in a press conference, it appears that things aren’t going to change any sooner. The manager insisted that the player maintains his position of not wanting to play for the Three Lions.
I'm not planning to contact him. He was asked not to be contacted, so if that changes then yeah.Lee Carsley told the press via Hayters TV
Carsley has done a good job integrating the squad and making the most of his options as far as his first two games were concerned. Carsley ended the International break with consecutive 2-0 victories in the Nations League.
England continue to win under Lee Carsley as Harry Kane bags brace on 100th appearance
Both Lee Carsley and Harry Kane enjoyed a comfortable evening against Finland in their second game in the UEFA Nations League group stage. Carsley mixed up the squad as promised, giving Anthony Gordon, Angel Gomes and Ezri Konsa starts on the night. His gamble paid off as England managed to keep a clean sheet and picked up all three points.
The main man Harry Kane took center stage on the night after hitting a brace to complete his 100th appearance for England. Kane was in the mood from the start, thinking he had scored from a brilliant diving header, only for it to be deemed offside. He came close again after Lukas Hradecky stood firm to deny a brilliant bicycle kick. The Finland captain also kept out a blistering free kick from the Bayern Munich man.
Just when England started feeling that Hradecky wasn’t to be beaten on the night, Kane found the net from a thunderous strike near the edge of the box. His powerful shot hit the underside of the bar and went in.
This was followed up with a first-time finish from the No.9 set up by Chelsea star Noni Madueke. Following the game, Kane stated on social media that the milestone was beyond what he dreamt of as a child.
