It was pure cinema between Arsenal and Aston Villa last night as Ben White brought to life the age-old adage of having your teammates’ back, literally. During Arsenal’s 2-0 victory against Villa, Ben White smashed the ball into John McGinn, avenging William Saliba’s earlier blow at the hands of the Villa midfielder.

Both teams tried desperately to find the back of the net in the first half. Arsenal definitely had the upper hand as they frequented the opposition’s half and the box. In the 34th minute, an unfortunate incident happened when William Saliba came a cropper after a duel with Ollie Watkins around the corner flag. John McGinn who was nearby, in a proclaimed attempt to clear the ball, hammered it into Saliba.

Spotting the entire incident, Ben White was quick to pounce upon his opportunity to avenge his teammate. As the ball still rolled around, White took his opportunity and clubbed it into McGinn, forcing Michael Oliver to blow his whistle and calm the flared tempers down.

Eventually, by the end of the game, Arsenal left it all behind and secured what was a remarkable win, taking their tally to six points in the latest edition of the league. Arsenal started the league with a 2-0 win against the Wolves where Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka found the back of the net. They added to their list of goal-scorers in the season, securing another clinical win against Villa as Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey registered themselves on the scoresheet.

A glance at how Arsenal conquered Aston Villa

Arsenal could have drawn first blood in the game when Bukayo Saka blasted a low-curler towards the bottom corner. However, former Arsenal goalkeeper, Emi Martinez pulled off a thumping save to deny Saka an early opener. Aston Villa had an incredible chance to score the all-important opener when Ollie Watkins was played in wonderfully by Morgan Rogers but somehow the former dragged it wide from inside the box.

David Raya proved to be critical under the sticks for Arsenal before Mikel Arteta’s men finally blew life to their tour away from home. Leandro Trossard hammered home the opener in the 67th minute when a low cutback from Bukayo Saka was very kindly deflected onto his path. Thomas Partey ensured the points when he latched onto a Saka assist to make it 2-0 for the visiting Gunners.
