Benfica vs Ajax Player Ratings: Benfica hosted Ajax at the Estadio da Luz in the leg 1 of the Round of 16 of the ongoing edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Ajax were a more balanced and threatening side in the 1st half as they took an early lead with a great goal from Dusan Tadic. However, Benfica were able to pull one back with an own goal by Sébastien Haller. Also, within minutes Sébastien Haller was able to score a goal for Ajax to take back the lead.
Benfica came to life in the 2nd half and kept on coming at Ajax with repeated counter-attacks. Finally, they were able to score an equalizer with a goal from the substitute Roman Yaremchuk where he latched on to the lose ball after the intial goal attempt was saved by the goalkeeper. The match ended 2-2 and everything is to be played for in Amsterdam in 2 weeks time.

Jurriën Timber (6.2/10): The Dutch centre-back was pro active in the defence making some good blocks and interceptions but could not do much about the goals.
Daley Blind (5.7/10): The Dutch left-back was fairly decent on the ball making good passes and carrying the ball well.
Noussair Mazraoui (6.2/10): The Moroccan right-back was defensively very good making crucial tackles and also helped in the attack as well. He assisted the 1st goal for Ajax.
