It seems the Kansas City Chiefs’ receiving problem might get solved this season after rookie Xavier Worthy showcased his prowess and contributed to the team’s season-opening victory. However, not everyone seems too impressed by it, as the opponents of the coming week 2 matchup didn’t seem too concerned about facing the rookie.

Although the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t have a good start, they are fired up about facing their biggest rivals in week 2. That’s why, the team’s secondary Cam Taylor-Britt didn’t feel threatened by the offensive weapon of the Chiefs when asked if he gives a significant boost to their offense during a recent press conference

Speed, that's about it. He can run straight -- run jet sweeps and just run straight. He can't do too much else, so that's about it. I feel like if you put your hands on him, he's only a hundred-something pounds. If you put hands on him, you're going to stop his speed. So basically get your hands on him.

Contrary to Taylor-Britt’s opinion, the rookie Worthy did make an impact in week 1. As he logged two impressive touchdowns– one being 21-yard touchdown while flaunting his speed and the second on a 35-yard reception in the fourth quarter.

Despite logging the two touchdowns, the receiver, as per the Bengals CB, still didn’t play a significant role in the team’s 27-20 victory as he made two catches on three targets with one carry.

Patrick Mahomes impressed by rookie Xavier Worthy’s NFL debut

Regardless of what the opponents say, Worthy truly impressed quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who immensely struggled last season with the Chiefs receiving corps and had to heavily rely upon tight end Travis Kelce. He expressed his confidence in the rookie to lead the team to their historic three-peat goal this season.

It's just going to be a spark. It shows what he can do. Obviously, it showed his speed. It showed how he's able to run routes and find open spaces... It's just kind of a start for him. We want him to keep building. We want to get him more and more involved in the offense, but a great start.

Following this game, the Chiefs are making it clear that they are hoping to expand Worthy’s potential and grow as he has been doing. Entering another season with a relatively new receiving corps, the Chiefs were a bit skeptical about Worthy’s performance, but he really stepped up in the season-opening game.

As usual, the team releases an official injury update before each game. The Chiefs’ injury report remains unchanged, with Hollywood Brown (shoulder) still missing practice. This week, they host the Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium, with kickoff set for Sunday at 3:25 p.m. Arrowhead Time.
