Joe Burrow came close to winning his first Super Bowl with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021. He eventually had to accept defeat against a solid Los Angeles Rams side led by Matthew Stafford.

Despite the heartbreak two years ago, the Bengals found their franchise quarterback, and in the 2023 offseason, they agreed to pay him $55 million annually until 2027. Analysts predicted the enormous number of his contract would add extra pressure on his shoulders, which showed in the following season.

Burrow got off to a shaky start, and eventually, the Bengals benched him after he injured his throwing arm against the Ravens in Week 11. The season ended in disappointment and controversy surrounding the 27-year-old’s injury.

After unconventionally going through rehab, the doctors cleared Burrow for practice. He participated in the Bengals OTAs and minicamp, and in the first week of training camp, he claimed he was back to 100% once more.

The former first-overall pick has extra motivation going into the 2024 season because the NFL picked Louisiana as the host of the next Super Bowl. When Kay Adams asked Burrow about his thoughts on playing at his old stomping ground, he replied it would be fun.

Of course yeah! I have definitely thought about it… That would be fun.
Joe Burrow told Adams, host of Up and Adams, during a recent interview from the Bengals training camp

Burrow played his final 2 seasons of college football with the LSU Tigers, and in the final campaign, he lifted the CFP trophy by going 15-0 in the regular season. He racked up 402 completions for 5671 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, and just 6 interceptions in 2019.

For Burrow to play in the Super Bowl in St. Louis, Louisiana, he must stay fit throughout the season. He can’t have a repeat of last season, where he finished with a 5-5 record with 15 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Even though he missed the remainder of the season, the NFL Network still chose to include him in their Top 100 players list. They placed him at 39, which ticked him off, but he knows to get a better ranking he had to play all the game.

I think I’m obviously better than that. [But] when you’re not playing, like I didn’t exactly have a season that would have put me any higher than that. You can’t complain much about any accolades or anything like that… Until you go out and prove yourself again.

The Bengals have the 6th easiest schedule, as per analyst Warren Sharp. They kick off the 2024 campaign against the New England Patriots.
