“He shouldn’t have said this,” says angry Toni Nadal after Benoit Paire makes a bold claim

Benoit Paire and Toni Nadal have a clash of words.

Benoit Paire finds himself again in the midst of controversy. The Frenchman recently made a bold statement on the Big 3 pulling out from the Miami Masters and that hasn’t gone well with the tennis fraternity specially Toni Nadal.

Toni Nadal, uncle and former coach of Rafael Nadal came out in the support of the Big 3 and criticized the statement made by Benoit Paire on the players pulling out from the Miami Masters which is scheduled from 22nd March to 4th April. Dominic Thiem has also decided not to feature in the tournament, making Andy Murray the only Grand Slam winner who’ll feature in the tournament.

Benoit Paire claimed that top stars like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem are not participating in an ATP 1000 event due to the bubble life they have to be in and the reduced prize money on offer. The basis of his claims are not verifiable but has surely angered many fans.

Toni Nadal didn’t like the take of Paire on his counterparts and gave a strong reply to the Frenchman who is currently ranked 31 in the world. Nadal said, “With his words he does not do any good to tennis and him either. He should have not said that. It shows how small his commitment is on the Tour.”

Paire often finds himself surrounded by criticism for his actions and outspokenness and will have to shift focus on the 1000 Miami Masters that will be commencing shortly.
