Benoit Paire has been in the eye of a storm recently. Allegations against him have ranged from tanking matches to not putting his best foot forward in tennis matches. The Frenchman admits that as well. He says that sometimes does bullshit things impulsively.

But he wants everyone to know that top stars like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem and even Gael Monfils are not participating in an ATP 1000 event due to the bubble life they have to be in and the reduced prize money on offer. Of Course there is no way to substantiate the claims of Paire but he has once again offended a few people with such talks. 

Benoit Paire says, “I say maybe bullshit under the influence of impulsivity but when I see that the Miami master 1000 will be played without Roger, Rafa, Novak, Dominic, Gaël and Stan, there is a problem at the moment on the circuit.” Translated from French.

‘Tennis not my priority right now’, says Benoit Paire

French tennis player Benoit Paire was accused of tanking a match at the Argentina Open, in the round of 16 encounter against Francisco Cerundolo. Those allegations could not be proved but now the player himself has come out and said that Tennis is not his priority right now.

Paire says that losing in the first round is so much better because you earn some money before quickly moving out of the bubble before going to the next tournament. He says he will enjoy life for a few days now, before going into the bubble again at the Miami Open. 

Paire says, “I lost in the first round, so much the better: I will be able to get out of the bubble fairly quickly and enjoy a few days before Miami.” Paire continued, “Tennis is not my priority for the moment. Getting out of the bubble is the only goal I have at every tournament.”
