Bernardo Silva reveals that Manchester City are focused on winning this year’s Champions League

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has aid that the team are very focused on succeeding in this year’s UEFA Champions League. Under Guardiola they’ve never been able to explore their full potential ok this competition.

Pep Guardiola has won the Premier League twice with Manchester City but has never been able to get the team in to the final of the Champions League.

Manchester City defeated Olympique Marseille by 3 goals to nil in the UEFA Champions League to qualify for the knockout stages in style.

In the last 3 seasons Pep Guardiola’s men have been eliminated by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Lyon respectively. Clashes wherein he was expected to win at each time.

They did manage to upset the king’s of Europe Real Madrid last season but again fluffed their lines against an inexperienced Lyon side. Speaking with the media Bernardo Silva said –

“It was a good game. We knew we have already got first spot in the group and we are already qualified but it’s always very good to finish the group stage with a good win, 3-0 at home,” Silva told BT Sport”On to the next one.

“It’s a good start for us – we know it’s not enough but it’s a very good start. We’re into the last 16 and our goal is to do better than we did in the last three seasons and that’s what we will try to do.”

Manchester City will be facing Manchester United next in the big match of the season- the Derby for the city. While their counterparts form is currently extremely low; this competition never fails to bring out the best of the teams.
