20 times Grandslam champion Roger Federer has been missing in action since his Australian Open 2020 semifinal loss to Novak Djokovic. Federer had announced previously that due to his right knee surgery, he will give the rest of the 2020 ATP Calendar a skip in order to train and recover well for 2021. However, Federer has been involved in a lot of off-court activities, with one of them being appearing in the Lindt Ad, a Barilla campaign and even singing along with the Beatles.

In his recent interview to the GALA magazine at Lake Zurich, Roger Federer spoke about how his long time away from the family has helped him bond with his family and also spoke about how his wife, Mirka has always supported his career.

Federer said in his interview with GALA magazine that travelling around the globe in the past 20 years has not been easy. Federer said, “For 20 years I was always on the move, constantly on the move. The longest time at home was a maximum of five to six weeks. A break like that is really good. I can come down and spend a lot of time with my family.”

Roger Federer has said that he had always been in high spirits when he was away from the court owing to his kids and wife. Federer said, “When someone is important to you, emotions come into play and the poker face melts like sugar.”

Roger Federer also spoke about his wife, Mirka talking about how she was always behind him. Mirka had sacrificed her own tennis career in order to travel with Federer to watch his matches. Mirka has supported Federer at almost every stage of his long career.

Federer speaking about his wife said, “Mirka is the best mother, the best wife! Mirka has always been a huge support, she is a wonderful person. During my long career, she has always supported me.”

Federer also said that he would settle in Switzerland after he hangs up his boots but that time will only come when his body would no longer support him.

Federer concluded saying, “Switzerland is my absolute favorite country, and I have always known that one day after I end my tennis career I would live here. If the cogs no longer work, then I stop.”
