Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu has not played on the WTA tour for over eight months now. The 23-year-old has been plagued with injuries. However, Andreescu is determined to make a comeback before the 2024 Roland Garros.
She revealed the timeline of her comeback during a Q&A session on Instagram. As one fan talked about missing her and asked about her comeback, Andreescu revealed that she would return to action one week before the 2024 French Open.
Notably, Andreescu has been troubled with injuries right from the start of her career. Most recently, she had been struggling with her back. Andreescu, who was once ranked 4th in the WTA rankings, missed a large chunk of the mid-season due to physical struggles in 2019 when she won three huge titles – Indian Wells, Canadian Open, and US Open.
She was last seen in action at the Montreal Masters in Canada where she suffered a first-round exit. Nevertheless, the Canadian seems to be eyeing a comeback before the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.
Week before the French Open!! Miss you all so much, can’t wait.Bianca Andreescuu wrote when asked about her comeback.
Bianca Andreescu also targeting the 2024 Paris Olympics
Not only the 2024 Roland Garros, but Bianca Andreescu is also targeting the 2024 Paris Olympics which are scheduled in July this year. The 23-year-old revealed her Olympic plans in the same Q&A session mentioned above.
Andreescu gave an affirmative answer when she was asked if she will be going to the Olympics. The Canadian star said that she has been dreaming of representing her nation at the multi-sport event.
Yes. It'll be my first one, something I have been dreaming for!!!Bianca Andreescu said.
The 23-year-old had expressed her desire to play at the Paris Olympics a few months back as well. Notably, Andreescu missed out on a chance to represent Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to injury. It is to be seen if she manages to fulfill her dream or if injury will play a spoilsport one more time.
