Bianca Belair continues to prove why she's one of the most valuable assets in WWE.

The 2024 edition of the annual WWE Draft kicked off on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown. As per this year’s rules, SmackDown had the first pick. The blue brand went ahead and chose the EST of WWE, Bianca Belair. Therefore, this made her the overall number one pick for this year’s Draft.
Bianca Belair reacted to this major honor on X, where she talked about being the number one pick. The 35-year-old was elated to be selected first and called herself “number one” and the only one. With the former Women’s Champion staying on the blue brand, it would be interesting to see how her feud with Damage CTRL develops in the future.
At the beginning of the show, Paul Heyman announced that Roman Reigns had withdrawn himself from the Draft this year. Thus, he was no longer eligible to be picked by any brand. This opened up room for other superstars, considering that The Tribal Chief had been the number-one pick for two years in a row. After Cody Rhodes‘ contract signing with AJ Styles, he and Triple H announced the first round of the draft picks.
The American Nightmare announced the draft picks for the SmackDown side and named the EST as their first choice. The longest-reigning Women’s Champion of the modern era is only the third woman to be picked first in the WWE Draft. She was preceded by Kelly Kelly in 2010 and Becky Lynch in 2019.
Bianca Belair will compete for the Women’s Tag Titles at WWE Backlash
During the show, Bianca Belair delivered a promo and sent a message to The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka, and Kairi Sane. The champions came out to confront the EST and thought that they had outnumbered her. However, Jade Cargill wasn’t far behind. She came out to her tag team partner’s aid, and the four women got into a verbal altercation.

Before things could get physical, the fight was interrupted by a brawl between Kevin Owens and Tama Tonga. However, WWE later announced that the 35-year-old would be teaming up with The Storm to challenge The Kabuki Warriors for their tag titles.
Despite her stellar resume in WWE, the EST has never held tag team gold in her days on the main roster or in NXT. Therefore, it would be interesting to see how Cargill and Belair are able to elevate the women’s tag division if they are able to overcome the Japanese duo at Backlash.
