“Big difference between Dagestani and American wrestling styles”- Khabib Nurmagomedov on fight with Justin Gaethje
Khabib vs Gaethje headlines UFC 254 on Oct 24th

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former NCAA Division I All American wrestler and current interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje ready for the fight this Saturday. Both of them have different fighting styles, Khabib’s wrestling and Justin’s striking. Nurmagomedov sees vast differences between Dagestani and American wrestling styles. And he intends to make it apparent come UFC 254 when he takes Justin Gaethje. “I’m going to go all night” Nurmagomedov claims.

Nurmagomedov: Big difference between Dagestani, American wrestling

Nurmagomedov (28-0 MMA, 12-0 UFC), believes that Gaethje (22-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) has better wrestling than his previous two opponents, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. However, he anticipates scoring takedowns again and again.

“I think it’s a big difference,” Nurmagomedov said at a pre-fight news conference on Wednesday. “I know he knows how to wrestle. Worry about wrestling 25 minutes.” Relentlessness is the biggest difference, Nurmagomedov explains. He further added, “If I’m going to try to take him down once and he defends, I’m going to go all night. I’m going to go all night.” Nurmagomedov stated, “This is the big difference between U.S. wrestling and Dagestan wrestling. … They all good when they stand up, but when I grab them, it changes a little bit. I think more than Dustin and Conor and other guys, he know to wrestle. It’s going to be a little bit hard. I prepared myself to try to take him down 100 times.

The eagle will be looking for his third straight title defence. And with a clash of contrasting styles set to take place, it could go either way.
