Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E joined forces in 2014 to form The New Day. The group would go on to become one of the most successful and decorated factions of all time. In a wrestling environment where partners are turning on each other all the time, the trio has stuck together since their inception. However, the team is now finally showing cracks after a decade.
Speaking on Sports Talk Philly, Big E was asked about the current tension amongst the New Day in his absence. He compared wrestling factions to a marriage with the way that people communicate. Thus, not everyone is on the same page at all times. There is turmoil in every marriage, regardless of how long it has lasted.
The former WWE Champion said that he did not want to get involved in the matter. However, he wished that the two superstars would settle their differences. Sticking together was the only thing that had gotten them this far in their journey, even when everyone was against them. He cherished the bond shared by the three of them, saying that it would last long after they were done with their in-ring careers.
We’ve been guys where you’ve never really seen any tension from us, but Kofi and Woods right now are going through a bit of turmoil. I think that happens in any marriage, whether it’s a long-lasting one or not. But that’s how people approach being a team together: it feels very much like a marriage in the way you communicate, and sometimes you’re not always on the same page.

The 38-year-old added that the two superstars could split and have incredibly successful singles careers if they wanted to. Kofi Kingston has already won the WWE Championship in his career, that too at WrestleMania in a highly spectacular fashion. He also said that Xavier Woods, despite being in the industry for over two decades, was still slept on by the fans. As much as they had already achieved in their careers, there was still a lot left on the table for them.
Big E comments on the Mr. McMahon Netflix documentary, based on the life of Vince McMahon
During the same interview, Big E was asked whether he would be watching the recently released ‘Mr. McMahon’ Netflix documentary. The former Mr. Money in the Bank said that Vince McMahon was a massive figure in the industry. He had worked closely with the Genetic Jackhammer for 15 years. Thus, he wanted to know more about his life and was looking forward to watching the docuseries.

The former WWE Champion claimed that it was extremely hard to tell the story of the professional wrestling industry without Vince McMahon, for better or for worse. He was excited to see how it would unfold in the documentary. Furthermore, he was curious how the documentary would differentiate between his on-screen and off-screen characters.
A lot of people in his position, a lot of billionaires, are hands off, and he’s someone who’s been really hands-on. He’s someone who’s always around, someone who’s had his hands in this industry for quite a long time. It’s really hard to tell the story of our industry without him, for better or worse. I’m intrigued to see how it all unfolds with this documentary.

Big E is someone that McMahon had his eyes on for a long time. Vinnie Mac was allegedly a huge fan of the 38-year-old since his NXT Championship days. Reports in the past have revealed that the former WWE Chairman was even considering making him the face of the company at one point.
