Over the past couple of months, The New Day drama has left the WWE Universe anxious about the future of the group. With each passing week, Xavier Woods looks closer to betraying his best friend, Kofi Kingston. However, a recent report from WRKD Wrestling would suggest otherwise. As per the source, the culmination of the ongoing storyline leads elsewhere.
Despite Woods teasing a heel turn, The New Day is unlikely to breakup ahead of its ten-year anniversary. Instead, the potential plans are for Big E to make his return and sort things out within the group. Of course, this depends on whether the former WWE Champion is able to get medically cleared in time.
For those unaware, Big E has been out of in-ring action since March 2022. During a match on SmackDown, The New Day member suffered a life-threatening neck injury following a botched belly-to-belly suplex. Since then, fans have been clamoring for the return of the beloved star.
In his most recent update, Big E revealed that the next 3–6 months are crucial for his wrestling career. The former Intercontinental Champion will go through several scans, which will determine whether or not he can return to the squared circle. Even if he doesn’t, it would be surprising not to see the 38-year-old star factored into the ongoing angle in some way or another.
Why Big E returning to WWE is crucial for The New Day storyline
Amid his prolonged absence, Big E’s New Day teammates, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, have not been on great terms. Since July, Woods has gradually grown frustrated with his failures. Whether it be group or individual, the real-life Austin Creed has been on the verge of a breakdown.
From removing Rey Mysterio‘s mask to refusing to shake Jey Uso‘s hand, the power of positivity no longer runs in Woods’ veins. Despite Kingston’s best efforts, The New Day struggles to remain on the same page. Hence, it does seem that a Big E return could fix things for the 10-year-old faction.
WWE will soon announce a tag team tournament on Raw in which The New Day is expected to participate. This might be the beginning of a redemption storyline for Woods and Kingston. Moreover, the culmination of the storyline would see Big E helping his brothers finally end their drought and become World Tag Team Champions.
