In a surprising turn of events, Bobby Lashley‘s contract with WWE is close to expiring. On Sunday afternoon, Fightful Select and hashtagPWN confirmed that Lashley was no longer on the internal roster list. As speculation spread online, Big E sent a heartwarming tribute to the Almighty, seemingly confirming that he was leaving once his deal ran out.
The New Day member took to X and paid respect to Lashley. Obviously, Big E holds the 48-year-old wrestler in high regard. After all, he won his first world title in WWE by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on The Pride leader. The two men also engaged in a brief rivalry during the summer of 2021. As mentioned, the news of Lashley’s contract expiration came as a surprise to the majority of fans.
Although his second run didn’t start on great terms, he would flourish during the pandemic era. After forming the successful Hurt Business faction with MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander, Bobby Lashley went on to finally win the WWE Championship. In his two reigns as champion, he defeated the likes of Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar. Furthermore, the former MMA fighter had an underappreciated run as United States Champion.

Speaking of his current run, the former ECW Champion has been absent from television for almost three months, owing to an injury. Prior to his hiatus, Lashley was scheduled to compete in the King of the Ring tournament. In the past year or so, injuries and creative changes have hindered his momentum. Nonetheless, only time will tell what lies ahead for him.
Are Bobby Lashley and MVP headed to AEW?
Not so long ago, MVP expressed his frustration with WWE for disregarding The Hurt Business. The popular faction was abruptly split up during the Vince McMahon regime. Therefore, when Triple H took over, fans expected the stable to be reunited. However, after a few weeks of teases, it ended up going nowhere.

Hence, it seems that both Bobby Lashley and MVP were fed up with their creative directions. Moreover, they may end up leaving WWE to join another wrestling promotion, where they could gain more freedom with their characters. Without doubt, the most obvious destination for both men is AEW.
Given their experience, it wouldn’t be surprising if Tony Khan lures the former Hurt Business members to his promotion. In fact, they could form a similar faction of their own and show why they’re among the best in the business. Further, Shelton Benjamin can also join forces with his former teammates and assert their dominance together.
