On 30th January, Mayank Agarwal was hospitalized in Agartala after drinking a mysterious liquid on his Indigo flight. He had stomach pain and a burning sensation in his throat, and was forced to be admitted in the ICU. Later it was revealed that he drank acid and it caused ulcers in his stomach and throat

Now he’s out of the ICU and has played two first class matches after the incident. As he prepares to lead Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals, he has decided to joke around regarding him drinking the poisonous pouch, quoting an iconic line from a Hindi film.

Mayank Agarwal leads Karnataka to Ranji quarter-finals

Mayank Agarwal, who is the captain of the Karnataka Cricket Team, has led the state team to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Not winning the Ranji Trophy in over 9 years, Agarwal and his team will aim to win the prestigious tournament.

Karnataka finished 2nd in their group, just two points above Gujarat who got knocked out. They will play Vidarbha on 23rd February in the VSCA Stadium, Nagpur. They will be without key player Devdutt Padikkal, who has scored 556 runs in just six innings as he is with the Indian team. 

Meanwhile Mumbai play Baroda, Tamil Nadu play Saurashtra and Madhya Pradesh play Andhra Pradesh. All of these four matches will be played on 23rd February and will be the first few 5-day matches of the tournament.
