Caleb Williams may have won the Heisman Trophy in college and is the #1 overall pick in the draft, but he has yet to impress Bill Belichick. The former NFL head coach delivered some scything words for the Chicago Bears starting quarterback ahead of their season opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
During one of the segments of Inside the NFL on CW, Belichick hinted that he observed Williams in the preseason. In his view, the USC graduate needs to do better and improve quickly.
He wasn’t accurate; he was 10-for-20. There were a couple of highlight plays, but they weren’t that good.Bill Belichick said, shocking his colleagues, including former NFL receiver Chad Johnson

If an 8x Super Bowl-winning coach is saying he wants more from Williams, then the Bears should take note. He developed arguably the best quarterback ever to play the game, Tom Brady, with whom he won six rings at the New England Patriots.
Caleb Williams received further flak from Hall of Famer
Williams hasn’t even taken a single snap in the professional game and is catching strays left, right, and center. After Belichick, Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning took an indirect dig at the 22-year-old.
Days before the return of The ManningCast on Monday Night Football, Peyton Manning appeared on the Pat McAfee show. Host Pat McAfee asked the 2x Super Bowl winner what he was most looking forward to from the rookie quarterbacks.
I like to get that interception record that I hold broken. I don’t want Bo Nix to break it. But the QB in Chicago [Caleb Williams] or Washington [Jayden Daniels], I’m still pulling for it. I have to get that off my QB resume. You think with 17 games, somebody is going to break it.Peyton Manning said

It brought out a smile from McAfee. Manning, being a former Denver Broncos quarterback, obviously would want the best for their current starter, Bo Nix. So, the best-case scenario would be for Nix’s peers—Caleb Williams in Chicago and Jayden Daniels in Washington—to break Manning’s 28 rookie season interceptions.
Well, if anybody knows how good Williams is, then they should talk to the person in charge of protecting him during gameday—guard Teven Jenkins. The 26-year-old has been impressed by his young quarterback about how quickly he has been able to adapt to Matt Eberflus‘ playbook.
He knows what he's doing, and he works hard for us. Every little thing you ask him like, 'Hey, can you get a little louder on the cadences?' he will take it personally to get better because he knows that it affects everyone and not just himself.Teven Jenkins said on Wednesday, September 7.
