Bill Belichick joined UNC after he felt the options available in the NFL were not enough for him to take them over. But then, when certain vacancies started to appear, rumors floated that he could be tempted into leaving his newly appointing position.

He had not even signed his contract, which made many believe he had kept the door open. The most obvious position available was with the Las Vegas Raiders. His former protege Tom Brady as the minority owner meant it was the best place for him to return to the NFL.

Jordon Hudson clarified that her 72-year-old boyfriend stays committed to UNC. He was then seen going on recruitment drives, signing up important pieces who he will coach next season. All of this seemingly confirmed that Bill Belichick was happy in college.

There was a time when only coaches who had failed in the NFL would go back to college. But a coach with the most Super Bowl wins in league history shunning the NFL has given hope to many coaches that they too can head to such programs. With that in mind, former HC Ron Rivera wrote this on his X.

Coach Belichick has made going back to school, cool. Stay tuned I am coming home.

This means he is heading back to his Alma Mater, the California Golden Bears. It is unclear what capacity he will take on. However, they already have head coach Justin Wilcox in place. Which could indicate that Ron Rivera might be taking on a different role.

Ron Rivera to hold GM like role with California Golden Bears

Bill Belichick may be just a head coach in name. But it is possible that he holds a lot of power over the functioning of the program. That could mean that he has similar levels of power what a GM would hold. With such roles becoming common, it seems Ron Rivera is on a similar path.

Two-time NFL Coach of the Year and Cal alum Ron Rivera is expected to take a General Manager-like role with Cal Football. An All-American for the Golden Bears, Rivera returns to Berkeley to work with head coach Justin Wilcox for a new era of Cal Football

This means Ron Rivera is about to take on a similar role to what former Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck has taken up at Stanford University. Rivera will be taking his extensive NFL experience to his alma mater.
