This offseason, the New York Giants shocked the entire NFL by letting go of their best player Saquon Barkley to a divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. The criticism continues to this day, especially when they are sitting at the bottom with a 2-5 record and their rivals are 4-2.
With both teams facing each other in week 7, the Giants received a slight slap on the face for the infamous departure of Barkley after they fell apart at 28-3 against the Eagles. It was also the game where the star running back returned to the MetLife stadium and posted the highest rushing yards record. Rushing 17 times, Barkley recorded 176 yards and a score.
On the subject of the Giants’ humiliating 28-3 loss at the hands of the Eagles, former head coach-turned-analyst Bill Belichick gave an earful to the former for forcing out their best offensive player, who was known for the explosive plays and could have balanced the offense well. Recalling the clip by Hard Knock where owner John Mara appeared to be regretting losing Barkley, Belichick blamed General Manager Joe Schoen for it.

As Belichick said, it didn’t take Barkley time to join another team as Philly acquired him in a lucrative three-year contract worth $37.75 million, including a guaranteed $26 million.
Saquon Barkley affirms relationship with Giants following 28-3 game
Barkley dominated the entire field on Sunday against his former team, showing extra energy on his return to the MetLife Stadium. However, the two-time Pro Bowler met with heavy booing from New York fans, which he dismissed any speculations in the post-game press conference. He assured that he has no grudges against the Giants and has relations with them.
Additionally, he also addressed the booing Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones received for the humiliating 28-3 loss and his abysmal outing, arguing it wasn’t right because the game doesn’t always happen the way the team intended.
