Former NFL coach Bill Belichick shared his two cents on the Dallas Cowboys after their underwhelming 1-2 start. The Cowboys are 0-2 in the last two games, giving away wins to the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens in weeks two and three respectively.

The two home losses have put them one place ahead of the New York Giants in the NFC East but below the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. The frustrating 1-2 start by Week 3 is the first for the Cowboys since 2020 when they failed to qualify for the postseason.

The 6-time Super Bowl-winning ex-coach feels that the Cowboys should stop looking at free agency or draft as both are over. He argued that the Cowboys have a roster that is capable of winning. Belichick added that the goal is to reflect on their losses and play with winning confidence.

The Cowboys re-signed Dak Prescott, second only to Lamar Jackson in NFL MVP last year, and WR CeeDee Lamb to historic contracts. They also have Micah Parsons on the roster. Their most regret might be Derrick Henry who put out a strong game against the Cowboys after being let off by Jerry Jones in the offseason

This is the same thing they ran into last year. … Look, the draft is over, free agency is over, I wouldn’t expect a lot of big trades here. I think there’s enough talent in Dallas to get things straightened out. But they got to look in the mirror and look each other in the eye and say we’re gonna do it

Belichick’s former team New England Patriots is also not doing any better than after his departure. Patriots are also 1-2 to the season after a week one upset over Cincinnati Bengals. However, unlike the Cowboys, they aren’t beaming with talent.

The Cowboys’ defense’s lack of depth is an issue

The Cowboys failed in the run game and in stopping the opponent’s run game. The team also hasn’t formed a positive chemistry. Their struggling defense is one of the main issues.

Bill Belichick also noted that this was an issue for the Cowboys last year as well when they played big teams like the 49ers or the Bills and nothing has been done to rectify this.

This is the same thing they ran into last year. They had about three or four games where they gave up over 175 yards rushing and got beat. It's the same problem cropping up again.

FS1’s Colin Cowherd bashed the Cowboys as well in terms of their repetitive failures. He alleged that the Cowboys are all glitz and glamor but an illusion like a Kardashian event. He took a jab at the Cowboys’ management for not building the roster, signing only one player in free agency, despite spending millions.

The Cowboys have some big names coming up in their schedule. They will play Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 3-0 up, in Week 5 before key games against rivals Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.
