  • The lawsuit demands approximately $300,000, including costs for hospital visits, physical therapy, and future financial losses.

Bill Belichick is facing fresh new trouble. According to a report from the Daily Mail, a Massachusetts-based painter sued the head coach of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels football team.

Painter Andrew Jackson accused Belichick of not providing him with safe working conditions when he was given the job to paint his Fair Street home in June 2024. As a result, Jackson fell down and injured his ankle.

Per Jackson, the house is not in any shape to work in. He recalled the floors and the furniture covered with plastic sheeting or coverings, creating a hazardous environment. Jackson not only suffered an ankle injury that caused him severe pain, but the medical bill burned a hole in his finances.

The Nantucket Current first reported on the lawsuit, later picked up by the Daily Mail. According to the lawsuit, Jackson is demanding roughly $300,000 from Bill Belichick for negligence. The sum includes $61 million in hospital expenses, along with $4,600 for visiting the doctor to get the best opinion on how to recover from his injury and $2,000 on physical therapy.

That’s not all. Jackson is additionally seeking $167,828.25, an amount that he claimed to have lost due to the time he spent recovering from the ankle injury. He also wants Belichick to pay him $50,000 for potential future losses.

Bill Belichick’s UNC lands a big offensive line commit

Belichick’s first year in college football did not go as he and many football experts had hoped. The Tar Heels won just four games all year, defeating lower-tier schools like Charlotte and Richmond. The wins against Stanford and Syracuse came during a time when both programs were struggling to recruit top-class players.

Recruitment has not been an issue for Belichick. Even though big schools are taking in all the best high school players, several top talents committed to UNC to learn from the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach. He has once again managed to recruit a big-name athlete in the current cycle.

North Carolina recently received the commitment from Cristian Alvarez. Schools like Delaware, UMass (University of Massachusetts), Marshall, and Temple had their eyes on Alvarez. Initially, he verbally committed to the UMass Minutemen in June last year. Then he decided to flip and join UNC.

The 6-foot-4, weighing 285 pounds lineman is a two-discipline athlete. Aside from playing football, the three-star recruit will also pursue wrestling at Chapel Hill.

Alvarez is one of nine interior linemen brought in by Belichick in the offseason. Four more are rumored to be joining from the transfer portal.

Belichick signed a five-year, $50 million contract ($10 million/year) to coach the Tar Heels football team. Of course, first year did not go as planned, but they can only improve in the upcoming season.

Big Bill had the chance to leave the program and return to the NFL in the recently ended hiring cycle. The Arizona Cardinals, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Tennessee Titans looked for new coaches after firing the previous ones. However, none of them approached the 73-year-old Patriots legend.
