Ryan Garcia revealed that Floyd Mayweather advised him to be three pounds overweight for his fight against Devin Haney. This of course caught the attention of the boxing world, and The Dream’s’ father and trainer, Bill Haney, questioned the boxing legend. Furthermore, Bill has now asked if he was involved in the PED scandal that Garcia is currently in.

Garcia exceeded the weight limit by 3.2 pounds for his match against Haney. This prevented Garcia from acquiring the super-lightweight belt because he exceeded the weight limit. Subsequently, a few days after defeating Haney, Garcia tweeted that he chose to be overweight based on Mayweather’s advice. Bill criticized the boxing legend for this and for using unfair means in the fight.

Garcia has tested positive for a PED called Ostarine on two separate voluntary anti-doping agency (VADA) drug tests. The accusation has become even more serious after the B sample test result returned positive.

Currently, Garcia’s future in boxing remains ambiguous because of all of these recent developments. His fight against Haney will likely be ruled a no-contest. This will result in Haney’s having an undefeated professional record. Furthermore, Garcia may face several ramifications because of his positive drug tests. 

Bill Haney’s message to Ryan Garcia

Bill is clearly upset about all of this, and Mayweather was not the only target for him. As such, after the release of the B-sample drug test results, he lashed out at Garcia on social media. Bill called the young boxer a cheater and remarked how people do not prosper after using unfair means.

In addition, he made it clear that there are consequences for Garcia’s actions. Bill also called out the double standards and hypocrisy by bringing up how Ryan Garcia talks about being a role model for the youth. However, Bill stated that this is not the case since he’s on drugs, and he’s setting a bad example for his fans.

He then emphasized the importance of integrity in boxing, particularly for young prospects who idolize fighters like Garcia. Furthermore, Bill Haney‘s words act as a nudge, highlighting the significance of staying true and honest in boxing and all other sports. He also encouraged all to respect the sport with seriousness and defend its principles.
