It’s safe to say that almost everyone who witnessed the Olympic ceremony held in Paris called it the ‘worst’ opening ceremony of the greatest sporting event. But tennis legend, Billie Jean King was impressed! And when she praised it on her X account, fans, as expected, were not happy with her views.
The opening ceremony, held on the River Seine, was marred by controversy. From a beheaded Marie Antoinette to the drag queens’ alleged ‘woke’ parody of the famous mural of Leonardo da Vinci’s the Last Supper, to South Korea expressing its anger upon being called North Korea by mistake during the announcement, to a major error that summed up the ceremony- when the Olympic flag was raised upside down- well, the list is endless.
Christians particularly, including Elon Musk, were furious about the depiction of the Last Supper by the drag queens. So when Billie Jean King labeled the ceremony as inclusive and diverse, a fan wrote she needed to go and see a doctor, implying that the ceremony was far from celebriting diversity.
The Paris #Olympics Opening Ceremony celebrated inclusion in every way: diversity, representation, solidarity, and love. The creativity was beyond amazing. Spectacular.Billie Jean King wrote on X

Fans slam Billie Jean King for praising the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics
As per some reports, France hosted the Olympic ceremony in that way because it wanted to raise awareness about many social problems. Fans, however, labeled it boring.
They felt the ceremony needed to be something about athletics and the celebration of sports in general. Fans were also unimpressed by French actor and singer Philippe Katerine’s depiction of Dionysus- the Greek god of wine- who performed almost nude with his body painted blue. Many also slammed the organizers for some ‘inappropriate’ performance that children shouldn’t watch. And this is why they expressed their displeasure with Billie Jean King‘s comment.
Check out their reactions here:
The ceremony is was supposed to symbolize the world coming together in friendly competition, instead it purposely emphasized the political divisions that are destroying western civilization.

You need to see a doctor Billie!!! Its was a disgrace!

It’s a matter of choice I guess but this ceremony was not about a celebration of the Athletes or the games..it was about France, globalism, gender and sexuality..I thought the motto of the games was Faster, Higher, Stronger not Gay, Straight and Trans..it was a bit underwhelming…

You have to be kidding. Drag queens are a fetishistic, degrading representation of women and the dancing was offensively sexualised for a ceremony watched by children.

Thought it was about sports.

The opening ceremony is nothing about sports . It’s about mockery of Christian’s.
— Michael Ferrera (@michaellferrera) July 26, 2024
With all due respect, it was absolutely disgusting… Mocking Christianity and the Last Supper? This shouldn’t be about pushing agendas and lifestyles, it’s about the world coming together because of SPORT! Do better… I am all for LOVE and INCLUSION, this isn’t it though…

It was boring and amateurish.

Ah yeah, mocking the last supper , "inclusion".

And to add to the displeasure, torrential rain also ruined the atmosphere. Fans felt the only thing that saved the ceremony was Celine Dion’s performance in the Eiffel Tower to close the four-hour-long opening ceremony.
The first round of the tennis matches in the Olympics has already started on Saturday (July 27) at the Roland Garros. This year’s French Open finalists Iga Swiatek and Jasmine Paolini have played their matches and reached the second round.
