Billionaire Mark Cuban’s daughter hid herself in a party after backlash from Luka Doncic trade
Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers without consulting minority owner Mark Cuban.

Mark Cuban and former Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic has firmly integrated himself into the Los Angeles Lakers. But a couple of months ago, he was still a part of the Dallas Mavericks. That trade sent shockwaves throughout the sporting world as no one was ready to believe it was true, especially with Mark Cuban still as a part owner.
No sports fan ever envisions a franchise trading away their franchise cornerstone to another team. Sending him away to a conference rival made it a tougher pill to swallow, especially for Mavericks fans. They could not understand what went through the minds of the team ownership and front office.
When the trade went down, fans had to double check to confirm if Shams Charania‘s X account was not hacked. Even his colleagues had to ask him separately to confirm what they never imagined would ever happen. A similar situation played out with Mark Cuban and his family.
My daughter was at a party, had to hide when it came out. I was at the premiere of The Accountant 2, and somebody started yelling, ‘Fire Nico’.

The billionaire said on Kirk Henderson‘s podcast that everyone including him were dumbfounded by the trade. He revealed that when the trade was about to be announced, GM Nico Harrison sent him a text about the development.
Mark Cuban: "If I had any influence, the trade wouldn't happen. I was just as dumbfounded as everybody else. After I sold the Mavericks, the new owner Patrick Dumont decided that 'Ok, in Nico we trust.' So, here we are."

Cuban first thought he was asked for an opinion. But then he realized he was being informed of what was about to happen. He revealed later to a former player that he was as surprised as anyone. Moreover, he did not understand the logic but could not do anything about it since he had no control.
Mark Cuban does not have operational control
When Mark Cuban sold a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks to Patrick Dumont and the Adelson family for $3.5 billion. After the sale, he was a minority stake holder but continued to hold operational control. However, that position changed over time.
I don’t anymore, and I haven’t for a while. Majority owner Patrick Dumont decided that he was comfortable with Nico Harrison and the team he put together, which was his choice. He made his choice.

The 66-year-old clarified that initially he had operational control. But over a period of time, Dumont convinced him that the current front office was good enough to take over. Which is why he eventually relinquished control
Nico Harrison and his team’s decisions helped the Mavericks’ reach the NBA Finals. This means they had proof that some of their decisions were for the best. But many cannot understand their logic in trading away Luka Doncic.
Cuban still does not understand the logic of trading Luka Doncic away
Mark Cuban has mentioned it time and again that had he remained in control, Luka Doncic would never have left the Dallas Mavericks. He had spent a lot of time and money to scout the Slovenian right from his teenage years. When host Kirk Henderson started saying that the 25-year-old is a generational talent, Cuban said.
You don’t have to convince me. I don’t get it either.

Along with this, the father of three revealed that he conveyed his displeasure with the trade to Harrison and Dumont. But Dumont is now the controlling owner, Cuban had no say. Now he has to live with that decision and continue to be a part owner.
This explains why he confronted and threw a fan out of American Airlines Center. He later tried to make it up and offered courtside seats. With all this transpiring, it is possible that down the line, the billionaire could sell his remaining share in the franchise.
