Lamar Jackson and his Baltimore Ravens hoped to fix the wrongs from last season and surge towards reaching the first Super Bowl appearance of his career.

Last season, their attempts fell short at the hands of Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills. Ironically, the two teams were set to start the season with many fans hoping for an epic contest.

The game started well for the away team, and they literally ran the Bills to the ground in the first three quarters. A mix of Derrick Henry‘s bruising runs, Jackson’s Houdini-esque scrambles, and a few throws to his receivers, and the Ravens were flying.

Towards the end of the 3rd quarter, the 2-time league MVP connected with his newest teammate, DeAndre Hopkins, on a touchdown to stretch the lead to 15 points.

While celebrating that score, a Bills fan pushed the veteran receiver on his helmet, and then tried to do the same to the quarterback. However, Jackson retaliated with a two-handed shove.

After the game, the Bills announced that they had banned that fan indefinitely. Reporters at the Ravens’ practice earlier asked Lamar Jackson about that incident.

My apologies to whoever that was. Just chill next time. You can talk trash, but keep your hands to yourself.

Lamar Jackson replied as captured by Sarah Ellison

The 28-year-old was then notified of another incident when Bills fans threw a bottle at one of the Ravens players. He then suggested that fans and players have the right to trash-talk to each other. Just that they should keep their hands and items to themselves.

Lamar Jackson shrugs off officials’ missing calls

If not for this incident with the fan, Lamar Jackson would not be in the news for anything other than how his team let a 15-point lead turn into a loss. Josh Allen and his teammates obliterated the Ravens and won the game in just 4 minutes.

However, the away team did have a chance to put the game away for good when Jackson had the ball in his hands with 2 minutes left. In that drive, on a 3rd and 9, he threw a pass to DeAndre Hopkins that only covered 6 yards.

On that play, the Bills’ defensive star of the night, Ed Oliver, hit the quarterback late after the ball left his hand. A reporter asked the Louisville alum about that hit and if he was frustrated with the no-call.

Hopefully, we start getting those calls sometime soon, fast. Hopefully, that don’t happen to me again. But it’s football. I don’t really cry I don’t cry on the field, I don’t cry at all really. I just play ball.

Lamar Jackson replied

The star QB agreed that the call should have been made. But he did not make a fuss about it. Rather, his nonchalant response indicates he wants the team to make the game-changing plays and not leave it to an officiating error.

Lamar Jackson and Ravens have 4 home games before bye

That loss must have hurt Lamar Jackson and his Baltimore Ravens teammates. After all, they put themselves in a position to win, and then could not hold on to that lead, throwing it all away in a matter of minutes.

Over the course of the next 5 weeks, they have four games at home, with one visit to Arrowhead Stadium sandwiched between. Those 4 games are not something that should concern them, and they should look to use their home-field advantage to get back in the win column.

The Ravens will face the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions next. Then, after their one-game road trip, they will face the Houston Texans and the Los Angeles Rams.

Technically, they will face four playoff teams before their bye in week 7. However, the team has the tools to upset each one of them, as long as they do not have a late-game meltdown.
