Lamar Jackson and DeAndre Hopkins had the Buffalo Bills on the ropes when they connected for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter. That score pushed the Baltimore Ravens’ lead to 15.

After that touchdown, the veteran receiver was surrounded by teammates, who proceeded to celebrate in front of Bills fans. Every athlete likes to rub it into opposing fans, especially when they have impacted the score.

In this case, the Ravens’ players were up against the notorious Bills Mafia, who do not spare anyone, and have the reputation of being one of the most hostile fans to play against.

One of them decided he had seen enough and stretched his hand out to first push DeAndre Hopkins. He managed to do so by hitting the wide receiver’s helmet. Since the 33-year-old was jubilant after his one-handed stunner, he did not pay heed to the push.

However, his quarterback was right behind him and noticed what happened. When the same fan pulled a similar act with Lamar Jackson, he retaliated by pushing the fan backwards with both his hands.

This incident soon caught fire on social media, and fans wondered if the two-time league MVP would get fined or suspended. ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter has an update:

The fan who shoved Ravens WR DeAndre Hopkins, and then got shoved by QB Lamar Jackson, has been “indefinitely banned from Bills and NFL stadiums”, per a team official. The fan had been ejected after the shove Sunday night.

This means that the Buffalo Bills took it upon themselves to do what was necessary and punish the fan for instigating a physical altercation. Such incidents could lead to unwanted disasters, hence, the Bills might have sent a message to their fans.

Lamar Jackson might not face punishment

In any other sporting league does not appreciate it if its athletes engage in a physical encounter with fans. Jawing and trash talk are part of the game, but when it gets too personal, the athlete can bring the matter to arena security for further action.

In the NFL, fans are routinely kicked out for fighting, jawing, or misbehaving with opposing fans. The height of the stands, when compared to the field, helps to keep fights among fans and not with players.

In this instance, the fan managed to get his hands on DeAndre Hopkins and Lamar Jackson. This could change when the Buffalo Bills move to their New Highmark Stadium next season.

However, the NFL could have taken action against the Baltimore Ravens quarterback. After all, he could have brought the matter to the attention of stadium security instead of shoving the fan.

So far, it seems the league has not done anything after the Bills handled the matter themselves. This means Jackson will be free to play in their next game against the Cleveland Browns.

Lamar Jackson and Ravens to face tough 5-game stretch until bye

Had Lamar Jackson and his teammates done enough against the Buffalo Bills, they would have started their season 1-0. Instead of a winning start, they are now faced with a losing record, which complicates matters when they face a tough opening schedule.

Their next game against the Cleveland Browns might not be as easy as they think after the way that defense devoured Joe Burrow in their opener. Then they will face the Detroit Lions, who are looking for a response after a disappointing loss.

So would the Texans, whose embarrassing loss in their season-opener left many wondering if they have lost their steam. Then come the Rams, who would like to win a lot of games early on to carve their path to a Super Bowl.

All those games are at home, which should give some solace. That is because those four home games will be split by an away battle against the Kansas City Chiefs before their bye week.

If the Ravens play the closing minutes of those games the way they did against the Bills, the franchise will face an uphill battle in their hopes of battling for a Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry will have to dig deep.
