The Bills Mafia, known for their unwavering loyalty, is stepping up in an unexpected way. Despite fierce competition, Buffalo fans support Ravens tight end Mark Andrews. After his two costly mistakes helped the Bills advance to the AFC Championship Game, the Bills Mafia has his back.

Bills fan Nicholas Howard took an unexpected step in showing compassion. He started a GoFundMe to support Ravens tight end Mark Andrews’ favorite charity, Breakthrough T1D. This organization focuses on type 1 diabetes research and advocacy, and Howard’s initiative came after Andrews’ fumble and missed two-point conversion pass during the Bills’ win over the Ravens.

In his GoFundMe page, Howard expressed his dissatisfaction with the death threats received by Andrews and his family during a tough time. Howard’s words and initiative shine a bright light on gridiron football and how it is more than just a game.

As many of you know Ravens TE wasn’t able to catch the the game tying 2 point conversion and upset Ravens fans. On top of that the TE has been receiving death threats and nasty comments after his performance last night. We want Bills Mafia to donate to Mark’s charity for Juvenile diabetes.

Nicholas Howard stated

Since then, the Bills Mafia has raised $69,008 for Breakthrough T1D, as of Wednesday afternoon. The amount has exceeded the initial amount of $5000 Howard mentioned in the description. The organization has appreciated the Bills Mafia gesture and acknowledged their gratitude in a statement to ESPN.

Breakthrough T1D [formerly JDRF] greatly appreciates the generosity of the Buffalo Bills community and the many fans who were compelled to donate after Sunday’s game. These donations will support research and advocacy on behalf of the 1.6 million Americans who, like Mark Andrews, live with type 1 diabetes.

The organization stated

Mark Andrews has received support from different arenas of the sport including his teammates such as Lamar Jackson and coach John Harbaugh.

In addition, he also promotes brands that are known for their diabetes-inclusive policies and products. In May 2024, MedBev roped in Andrews as the brand ambassador for their natural diabetic-friendly mix.

As someone who manages diabetes while playing at the highest level of professional football, I know firsthand the importance of proper nutrition and hydration. I’m excited to partner with Med-Bev to promote a product that can make a real difference in the lives of people with diabetes, helping them stay healthy and active.

Mark Andrews said

Mark Andrews was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was just nine years old. It was a huge decision in the Andrews family – affecting his dad, a urologist, who understood the changes their family would have to undergo.

Andrews, who played soccer in those days, didn’t heed the words of naysayers, being stubborn to play the game he loved so much. The journey wasn’t easy – neither for him nor his family. Nevertheless, the Andrews club came together for Mark from learning to test his glucose levels to administering insulin shots. The journey was hard but an inspirational one so far.
