It appears the Buffalo Bills went into the divisional match against the Baltimore Ravens with something else in their mind besides their contention for the Super Bowl. With their dazzling victory, they ensured that their opponents as well as Lamar Jackson’s MVP voters know of who eliminated the Ravens from the playoffs.

Despite Josh Allen being the frontrunner for the NFL MVP for most of the season, when it came time to vote, the NFL All-Pro team voted Jackson’s name to win his third MVP award. Typically, it wouldn’t have finalized the decision, but several of those voters are also on the NFL MVP Selection Committee, and to say the Bills felt disrespected would be an understatement.

After the glorious victory, as the Bills were celebrating in the locker– or rather mocking their opponents, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer overheard some impudent words about the Ravens by an anonymous player of AFC East champions.

Whether due to their loyalty to quarterback Allen or simply their celebratory spirit, the Bills took a jab at the Ravens, whose players were selected for the Pro Bowl. This selection guarantees their enjoyment and participation at the NFL Pro Bowl festivities in Florida, scheduled for February 2 instead of preparing for the Super Bowl game on February 9 in New Orleans.

Interestingly, this competitive spirit was primarily evident among Allen’s teammates, while the quarterback wasted no time after the game to show his respect for the two-time NFL MVP. He immediately went straight to him and embraced him before the two went on different paths.

“I just got so much respect and love for him,” said Allen about his gesture towards Jackson in the post-game conversation with CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfsen.

The way he plays the game. He’s a true competitor, he’s a true football player. One of the greatest to ever step on the football field. So nothing but love

Josh Allen added

Calling Jackson “one of the greatest” quarterbacks, Allen embodied the true meaning of sportsmanship. Before parting, he also received best wishes from the Ravens signal-caller to win the Super Bowl, as the Bills head towards facing their long-time rival Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
