Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are set to play the first-seeded Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round game during the weekend. As the first seed, the Broncos enjoyed a week off while the Bills battled it out against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Florida.

Allen completed 80% of his passes for 273 yards and threw one touchdown. He further added 33 yards using his feet and a couple of rushing TDs, including the game-winning score. The defense played a big part. Shaq Thompson and Cole Bishop picked off Jags QB Trevor Lawrence, and Greg Rousseau recorded a sack.

It wrapped up 27-24, marking Allen’s first postseason win on the road. According to CBS Sports research, the Bills are now just the fourth team, alongside the Dallas Cowboys (1991-1996), New England Patriots (2011-2018), and Kansas City Chiefs (2018-2024), to win six playoff games in six straight seasons.

The only thing that the Bills don’t have in common with the others is the silverware. Allen needs to win a Super Bowl to be part of the best-of-the-rest conversation. Fortunately, he doesn’t have to face either the Chiefs or Ravens this year. A chance like this comes once in a millennium, so he’d better grasp it with both hands.

Colin Cowherd makes a bold announcement about Josh Allen after the Bills win the wildcard round

Allen is a talented quarterback. He hasn’t quite reached Jim Kelly’s status in Buffalo yet, but he’s getting pretty close. Kelly holds the unfortunate honor of losing four straight Super Bowls. Allen just needs to win a ring to cement himself in the Bills Hall of Fame.

He may have already done so. The reigning MVP’s impressive stats are clear evidence of his dominance. In his 14 postseason appearances, Allen has accumulated 32 total touchdowns, 4 picks, and a PFF grade of 91.3.

Sure, he has yet to play in an AFC Championship game, but he’s slowly getting there. Colin Cowherd believes that Allen is the best quarterback he has had the pleasure of watching.

Josh Allen is as good a football player as I’ve ever seen in my life. I think he’s better than [John] Elway. I think he’s better than [Dan] Marino. I think he’s more talented than [Patrick] Mahomes… Forget a superhero. He’s like Zeus… like a god among gods. It’s just a different level of player.

Sean Payton showers praise on Josh Allen and the Bills

On Saturday, January 17, Empower Field at Mile High will host the Bills. This is the farthest the Broncos have been in the playoffs since winning the Lombardi Trophy in 2015.

Sean Payton has played a big role in making the Broncos relevant once again. He drafted Bo Nix and in two seasons have won 20+ games. That being said, the Bills with Allen as their starter will pose a challenge to the Broncos defense.

[Josh Allen’s] a fantastic competitor. He was the difference when that game that was close last weekend, and here it is the final drive. It’s been a while since I saw someone gain seven yards on a sneak. He’s one of the stars of our league, and you see it year-in and year-out.

Allen has a 3-1 record against the Broncos. In 2024, the Bills knocked the Broncos from the wildcard round.
