Tennis legend Bjorn Borg has revealed who he thinks will win between him and Rafael Nadal had they faced off at Roland Garros. The Swedish legend holds one of the best records on tour, having just played in 27 Grand Slam main draws and won 11 of them, becoming the first player to earn double digits in major titles in the Open Era.

Borg had an incredibly limited career, but he made an excellent impression on the court that has gone beyond decades. He reached 16 Grand Slam finals, winning 11 of them, including five Wimbledon Championships, the fourth highest in history. He also achieved a mind-blowing 141-17 win-loss record in major tournaments.

However, the Swedish legend hung up his racket at the age of 26 after winning over 60 tour-level titles. His record seemed insurmountable before young Nadal arrived on the scene at the Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris and accomplished an other-worldly sporting achievement.

Nadal won the Roland Garros 14 times on the court and was highly praised for his consistency on the red dirt after winning 112 of his 116 matches on the surface. The 39-year-old won more than 60 titles on the clay court, which earned him the title King of Clay. He ended his professional tennis career last year after winning 22 Grand Slams.

During an interview with Spanish outlet MARCA, Borg was asked if he could beat Nadal at Roland Garros, considering he won the clay-court Grand Slam five times. The former World No.1 revealed that he doesn’t think he will beat Nadal as the Spaniard’s generation of players were better than his:

If I play my best tennis and he does too, Nadal wins. Because we’re talking about a different game. The tennis of my generation wasn’t the same as that of the Rafa, Federer, and Djokovic era. What Nadal has achieved at Roland Garros is unique and will never be repeated in the sport. It’s the greatest thing that has ever been accomplished.

Nadal’s career has become a symbol of perseverance on the court. Despite sustaining several injuries during his time on tour, the former World No.1 still went on to win over 90 tour-level titles. He ended his career at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, Spain after losing to Dutch star Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets.

Bjorn Borg heaps praise on Carlos Alcaraz following an excellent 2025 season

Carlos Alcaraz has established himself as one of the best players of his generation. He finished the season as year-end World No.1 for just the second time in his career beating his arch-rival Jannik Sinner to claim it. He dominated the men’s circuit this season by winning eight titles, two Grand Slams, and three ATP Masters 1000 crowns.

Despite Sinner putting Alcaraz to the test on several occasions this year, he passed with flying colors. He defeated the Italian star four times this season, losing only on two occasions to him. During the aforementioned interview, Bjorn Borg said that Alcaraz has been an incredible player and person on tour.

He’s an incredible player and person. You feel very comfortable around him. Everyone loves him. I was surprised by what a great guy he is. The way he plays… For me, he’s the fastest on the court. I was impressed by his personality and I wish him all the best.

Alcaraz ended his 2025 season at the ATP Finals in Turin, where he reached his first final at the prestigious event. However, Alcaraz lost to Sinner in straight, which was his ninth loss of the season. He was supposed to represent Spain at the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, but failed to do so after picking up a minor injury.
