The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) has had a habit of signing former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters. The likes of Chris Leben, Chris Lytle, Artem Lobov and Paige VanZant have all made the switch. The most recent one was the latter who made her debut at the Knucklemania event which took place last month. She didn’t get her career off to the best of starts however, as she lost to Britain Hart.

In that line, Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos who were removed from the UFC roster this week could now be signed by BKFC. According to BKFC President David Feldman, the promotion is ‘interested’ in signing both Overeem and dos Santos. He further stated that a response is awaited from both the fighters on whether their interest is reciprocated.

David Feldman expressed the promotion’s interest via a text message sent to BJPenn.com in which he said, “Yes, we are interested in both Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem. We have already made contact with them and their teams. Let’s see what happens.”

Although the prospect of Overeem and dos Santos fighting at the BKFC would be huge for the company, it has to be noted that neither has even hinted at interest in the promotion. It is also noteworthy that dos Santos has almost exclusively only competed in MMA. Overeem on the other hand was also a kickboxer. He is also known to be the first fighter in the world to hold world titles at the same time in both MMA and K1 Kickboxing.

Currently, the prospect of dos Santos and Overeem fighting in the BKFC could still be far away but one never knows what the future holds.
