In the co-main event of UFC 256, Charles Oliveira dominated Tony Ferguson for 15 minutes, with most of the time controlling Ferguson in the ground. After the end of three rounds Oliveira was declared the winner by the unanimous decision of judges and ‘El Cucuy’ faced his second consecutive defeat in Octagon after Justin Gaethje broke his 12 fight win streak.

Oliveira was so close to a submission victory in the first round when he applied an armbar on Tony but he didn’t tap and ‘Do Bronx’ missed the submission victory. But still, Oliveira was able to control Tony in-ground for most of the time, which showed many loopholes in the grappling defense of Tony Ferguson.

After this fight, Tony started getting trolled on social media that it’s good he never faced Khabib Nurmagomedov whose ground game is considered best in the Lightweight division. Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz who never miss a chance to attack Tony Ferguson also took a jab at Ferguson’s Jiu-Jitsu skills after his loss against Oliveira.

Ali Abdelaziz says “Black Belt vs. White Belt” mocking Ferguson for his loss. Ali noticeably offered Ferguson $200,000 to face Islam Makhachev at UFC 254. Tony denied fighting Islam and after that, he accepted to fight ‘Do Bronx’ for UFC 256, and with a loss again ‘El Cucuy’ is certainly in a bad spot right now in the Lightweight division.

Gilbert Burns also praised Charles Oliveira

After his spectacular performance, Charles Oliveira received appreciation from many UFC fighters. The number one Welterweight contender and Ali Abdelaziz’s fighter Gilbert Burns also seemed to be very impressed with ‘Do Bronx’s’ fighting skills and Jiujitsu game.

In one of his tweets, Burns says, “There’s level to the jiujitsu game! Charles is at the very top!”. In another tweet, he says, “3 rounds 3 10-8 against Tony Ferguson! Wow, congrats Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. With a win over Ferguson”. Now Oliveira has cemented his place in the top contenders for the Lightweight title and Tony needs to make a comeback in the division.
